STEP 1
Cut out all material using the Lumber Cut Layout Guide.

STEP 2
On (1) end of the 12" block, mark lines on all (4) sides at 1-1/4" and another line at 1-3/4".

Set the miter saw at 22.5°. Cut along the 1-1/4" line on all (4) sides.

Set the miter saw at 45°. Cut along the 1-3/4" line on all (4) sides.

Measure 3-1/2" from the edge of the 45° angle and mark. Set miter saw at 0° and cut.

On the top side, draw lines from opposite corners. The intersection point is the center of the block.

Using a 3/4" forstner bit in the drill press, drill a hole that is 1-1/2" deep at the intersection point.

Sand to your desire.

Apply glue to the hole. Insert the 3/4" dowel until it reaches the bottom of the hole.
