Steps

STEP 1

Measure and cut out all material using the Lumber Cut List (also found in project plan PDF).

1" x 5"x 8' Boards, 1" x 2"x 8' Boards

STEP 2

Take (1) of the 1” x 5” x 30-5/8” boards and measure 4-1/2” from (1) end. Find the center line (CL) and make a mark. Drill a 1/8” hole at the mark. CL This hole will be for the knob attachment.

Attach the other 1” x 5” x 30-5/8” board to (1) of the 1” x 5” x 24-1/8” bottom boards using glue and 1-1/4” brad nails.

STEP 4

Use the same method from Step 3 to attach the 1”x 5”x 24” top board to the back panel.

The measurement for each shelf is 9-11/16” or equal distance (EQ) from each other. Mark this distance along the inside of the back panel. Be sure to allow 3/4" for the thickness of the shelves. Glue and nail the shelves in place from the back side.

Align the front panel so the hole drilled in Step 2 is located toward the top. Follow the attachment method from Steps 3 & 4. There will be a 1/8” edge on the top and bottom boards.

Take the extra 1” x 2” boards and make (2) spacer blocks that are 1” tall.

Place the 1” spacer blocks on top of the bottom board and to (1) side. Set (1) of the 1” x 2” x 22-1/2” rails on top. Align the edges of the rails so they are flush with the outside. Glue and nail together on both ends. Remove the 1” spacer blocks.

Repeat step 7 for the remaining shelves.

STEP 10

Turn the spice rack up side down and test to see if the casters will fit. Using holes located on caster mounts, mark a center point for each screw. Drill (1) 1/2” deep pilot hole at each location. Do not attach Casters yet.

Use wood filler and fill in each of the nail holes. Sand the spice rack.

Finish to your desire with paint or stain.
